One of the main reasons why I and so many other people love the Instapot is the speed and ease of cooking. Even as a beginner, cooking even basics things become so much faster. Today, I will be sharing some basic instapot recipes that you can try right when you get your Instapot. No prior experience needed.

Hard Boiled Eggs
Hard-boiled eggs are an easy breakfast, lunch or even just a snack. And lucky for us, the two main drawbacks to hardboiled eggs (at least for me) can be solved with the Instapot. If you want to learn how to make perfect hard-boiled eggs in 5 mins every time, then keep reading.
The first thing I don’t like about hardboiled eggs is it usually takes over 20 mins for me to cook them from start to finish. With the Instant Pot, it takes 5 minutes. Second, I hate when the shell is hard to get off. If you use this recipe, the eggs will peel extremely easily.
Ingredients:
Eggs
1 cup of water
Equipment:
Instapot
Steam Rack
Directions:
1. Place steam rack in Instant Pot along with the cup of water.
2. Place as many eggs as you would like/can without stacking.
3. Close Instapot and make sure its sealed (including the valve).
4. Set to 5 minutes on manual.
That’s it! Once its done, release the steam with the quick release and put the eggs in cold water until the desired temperature is reached.
Japanese Cheesecake
When I think of cheesecake, the words “easy” or “beginner” don’t come to mind. But with this simple recipe and the Instapot, its both of those. With just 3 simple ingredients, you can make a light and fluffy Japanese cheesecake that everyone will love.
Ingredients:
3 Large Eggs
4 Oz White Chocolate chips
4 oz cream cheese (full fat), at room temp.
Equipment:
Instapot 6qt or 8qt
Small Round cake pan 6’’ diameter, 3’’ tall. I used one made by Wilton which can be seen here.
Directions
1. Spray inside of cake pan with oil then line with parchment paper. Easiest and cleanest way I’ve found to do this is to cut a circle that will fit the bottom of the pan. Then a long strip to cover the side.
2. Melt chocolate on stove or microwave. Putting chocolate in a glass bowl and floating that in simmering water is a good way to melt it on the stove. If you use the microwave, heat in 20-second intervals until melted.
3. Add cream cheese and melted chocolate together and whisk until smooth and mixed together.
4. Separate the yolk from whites of the eggs, and mix the yolk into the cream cheese, chocolate mixture. Whisk again until smooth.
5. Beat egg whites with a whisk or electric mixer until stiff. It important that egg whites are very stiff otherwise your cake will collapse. You should be able to form stiff peaks with the whites, not just soft ones.
6. Add 1/3 of egg whites to the batter and fold in gently. Repeat with another 1.3 of the whites, and then again with the rest of the whites.
7. Pour into Pan.
8. Add 1.5 cups of water to your instapot. Place the trivet that came with your instapot in it, and then the pan on top of it. The pan should not be touching the water.
9. Seal and set to 17 minutes on manual high pressure.
10. Once done, you’re welcome to eat it, but we recommend you let it sit in the fridge for a couple hours to develop its taste.
11. You can add some powdered sugar on the top if you want.
Oatmeal
A super easy oatmeal recipe that you set the night before and have it ready for when you wake up.
Ingredients:
Oatmeal
Water
Directions:
1. Add your usual mixture of oats and water (or water and milk)
2. Seal Instapot and set to 8 minutes on high pressure.
3. You can wait 5 minutes after to let the oatmeal calm down, but I usually just release the pressure and get eating.
It’s that easy. But I guess it is just oatmeal.
Mac and Cheese
People always say homemade mac and cheese is better than boxed, but for some reason, I just like the taste of boxed mac and cheese the best. With an Instapot, I can now cook it in 5 mins.
Ingredients:
7.3 oz box of your favorite boxed macaroni and cheese
1 1/4 cup water
¼ cup milk
2 tbs of butter
Directions:
1. Add butter water and pasta to instapot.
2. Close and seal, set to 5 mins at high pressure.
3. Do a natural pressure release
4. Stir in Milk and cheese.
This is by far the easiest way to cook macaroni and cheese.
Rice
Rice is simple, and yet its very easy to mess up. But if you follow a few rules, you’ll get perfect rice each time.
Rule #1: Cooking time should be 3 minutes on high pressure with a 10-minute natural release.
Rule #2 Ratio of Rice to water should be 1:1. So 1 cup of rice would need 1 cup of water.
Won’t do directions for this one as its sort of explained in the rules. I do recommend rinsing the rice before cooking.
